Actor Spotlight with Actress Amy Cay from the newly released Crime Thriller THE CASE OF DAKOTA MOORE

1. Can you describe what influenced you to pursue a career as an actor?

When I was in High School, I remember watching Saw II and falling in love with the set and developed this desire to be in a horror movie one day. I never pursued it, but it was when I met Anthony Leone and he offered for me to be the lead in HACKSAW. Even knowing I’ve never acted before, I just dove in headfirst and fell in love with acting, producing, and now editing movies!

2. What do you feel is more important for an actor, talent or training?

I think talent is crucial and a must for being able to be an actor. Training is a tool that allows you to be able to develop and grow to become better with your performances.

3. Which types of acting do you feel you are most suited for?

To be 100% honest, I’m not sure. I will say that the one I felt was my best performance was in Torment, as the psycho.

  1. What steps do you take to fully understand the importance of your character to the story?

II always make sure to talk with the director on what their vision and expectation is. Then, I do my part by studying and rehearsing to create that specific character.

  1. Who do you consider to be your acting role model whose career you would like to emulate, and why?

I truly admire Kaley Cuoco. I feel we have very similar personalities, and I can relate to her. It’s been great to watch career grow, especially seeing her start out with more quirky type roles. Watching her in the new show, The Flight Attendant, is incredible. I think her acting is spot on and it’s a different role that I haven’t seen. I admire when actors have that dynamic talent to them where they can play different characters, and that’s what I want for my career as well.

  1. What is the first thing you do to research and approach a role?

The first thing I do is watch any kind of a movie that is relatable to my character. I am a very visual person, so I like to watch and study the behavior and movements.

7. Describe your most challenging role to date.

I would have to say my role in Torment. I play a complete psycho, so to really tap in to that character and emulate this crazy person was challenging. I remember a scene with Paisley, and I had to look at her with complete hate and anger in my eyes. That was hard, because I adore her to pieces, but this is why it’s called acting, right? Haha! So, yes, to play a role as a psycho was the most challenging for me to date. I will say though, I feel it’s been my best performance, and I hope the audience will agree.

8. Which film would you most like to have been in and in which role?

I’m going to go left field here and say Tomb Raider. I LOVE Lara Croft and growing up I was obsessed with the video games. So, when the movies came out, I remember thinking how amazing it would be to act as Lara! That would be a dream come true.

9. What music inspires you to create?

Any kind of ambient music. I love all genres of music truthfully, but to create I need music that isn’t distracting and helps me focus.

  1. What is next for Amy? Any new projects in development you want our audience to know about.

There are a couple projects that I am super excited about! The first one is, Mike & Fredvs. The Dead. I play Maddison Walker, Fred’s sister. This movie is a comedy horror and very entertaining! It’s about 2 stoner’s that get caught up in a zombie apocalypse, and there is just constant chaos no matter where they go. It’s hilarious and I really feel the audience will enjoy it! It’s currently circulating through the film festivals, but more details will come once it’s released to the public. The second movie I briefly spoke about earlier, Torment. This one is in post-production and is almost ready for film festivals. It’s drama horror movie about two women with secrets that bcome exposed as the movie develops. In my opinion, the best movie to date that I’ve worked on with Anthony Leone. I am very excited for the public to see it!!
