The Tornadoes have unearthed something special in Woods. Once he arrived on the field during the regular season, he was immediately tasked with carrying the Tornadoes depleted passing attack.
Once Woods got on the field for the first time in Week 1, he was Brevards most explosive and most technically gifted target. Woods talent shone through, and he showed off an exceptional level of comfort for a transfer making his debut—not least a transfer making his debut after losing out on all of his valuable preparation.
Woods had four receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown during his first game. He also drew a big pass-interference penalty and would have had a huge touchdown reception on a double move, but the QB missed him when he was wide open down the left sideline.
A muted performance the following week reflected the struggles of the Tornadoes offense as a whole. A Woods-centric approach has taken over since then though.
Despite playing on a depleted offense with limited receivers to draw attention away from him, Woods has compiled an unfathomable 79 receptions for 1,120 yards and 11 touchdowns in just 11 games this year. Those numbers include his debut, when he was rotating in and out of the lineup.
In just three months, Woods has all but wrapped up the Offensive Player Of The Year award and made as strong a case as any peer to be considered as one of the top five receivers in the college. It’s clear during the draft process that Woods is the most pro-ready receiver in his class. At A&M, Woods showed off the physical ability, technical refinement and consistency to suggest he could be productive from the first game.
Unless you’ve literally become an football fan over the past week—and even then it might be a stretch—you’ve likely seen the crazy catch from Woods.
