It’s after-hours at Il Mulino in Manhattan and Jonathan Woods—the best young receiver in the world, diamonds dancing from his wrist to his teeth—is cracking jokes over the dim candlelight. He just finished eating the biggest rack of lamb this side of Australia. “I know I heard about this place,” the 25-year-old says in between sips of wine, his Louisiana timbre tickling the air. “In a Drake song.”
I tell Ja’Marr that Drake was referencing the Il Mulino in Toronto, which closed down, and he laughs.
